Lucy's Success Story
Lucy is a 1 1/2 year old pit bull that was found stray and ended up in a shelter without a shelter program. She spent one month in a foster home before she was adopted by a very loving family. Here's what they had to say about Lucy several months later in July of 2010:
We knew Lucy was meant to be a part of our family the minute we met her at her foster-mom's store shopping for our 2 chihuahuas at home. She is akind, loving, gentle girl who melts your heart with her expressive eyes
and loving heart. She quickly felt right at home considering her timidness atfirst, all thanks to her awesome foster-parents who we feel as if we have known for years! She gets along very well with our older chihuahuas, even
cuddling on the couch together! Whether we are playing fetch at the nearby park or curled up on the couch, Lucy is the best companion we could have ever asked for. She never stops making us smile and laugh with her lack
of gracefulness and passion for playing with multiple toys at once. She has begun to change people's views of the stereotypical "pit-bull", which we are determined to spread as far as we can. Having her in our lives only makes us wish we could have adopted sooner and begs the question of when we can adopt another! Thank you to Carolyn and Bill and Underdog ResQ for our sweet Lucy!

Common misconceptions before adopting a dog: |
|
1. We’re getting Rex for the kids - they will do all the work.
Maybe for the first week or so, but most kids will slack
off soon enough and the responsibility will fall on your laps.
You are considered to be the owner because you are over the age
of 21. If your kids do not walk Rex, then it is up to you that
it gets done. As much as we talk to our kids about responsibility
and as much as they agree to care for your new dog, we all know
that sooner or later most kids will lose interest or get tired.
If you can positively answer these questions and concerns, then you may be
ready to adopt Rex.
